in the garden

I’m on gardening leave from my company at the moment and I’m having an interesting time getting used to it. This is the first time since I was fifteen that I haven’t worked. I have a million things that I’ve needed to do this past few months and haven’t because I’ve been too wiped out or too busy. The optician, the doctor, the dentist, getting my car serviced, even taking my cat to the vet have all been put on the back burner. I’m pleased I finally have the time, but now that things are getting done, I’m trying to get used to the idea that I can do things for myself with what remains.

We all think about what we’d do if we had time to ourselves. I’ve been spending time with my cat, reading, writing and studying subjects that are of interest to me and not necessarily what I might need for work. One thing is for sure, I’m going nowhere near a spade…
